The story of wood sculpting

The job title of a carver and of a wood sculptor needs to be explained.In old scripts we find a range of job titles, concerned with the carver. The versatility of the carving job leads to a job specialization.
In certain regions there were carvers of wooden figures and masks, crèches as well as carvers of reliefs and sculptors.

All these kinds of handcrafts handle with the material of wood, except the specialty of ivory carving.
Today woodcarving includes a handicraft work, where you can carve half or fully plastic figures, saints, reliefs and Christmas crèches with the woodcarving knife.
